What follows is a number of tips to help get you started with Edge:<\/p>\n<h2>Accessing the Settings menu in Edge<\/h2>\n<p>The Settings menu in Edge is quite comprehensive and, to a certain extent, allows you to customize the browser to your own liking. However, if you&#8217;ve previously saved your favorites (or bookmarks) to an HTML file on external media, you can then import that HTML file into Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and from there import into Edge.<\/p>\n<h2>Delete Browsing History (Data) In Edge<\/h2>\n<p>You can quite easily delete browsing history (data) in Edge at any time. Access the Settings menu and, under &#8220;Clear browsing data &#8220;, click the <strong>Choose what to clear <\/strong>button:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-settings-clear-browsing-data.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-42606\" src=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-settings-clear-browsing-data.png\" alt=\"edge settings-clear browsing data\" width=\"348\" height=\"92\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-settings-clear-browsing-data.png 348w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-settings-clear-browsing-data-150x40.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll then be presented with a list of options. Each time you visit a search engine page, Edge records it and adds the search engine to a list of options. Open the associated drop down menu and click <strong>&lt;Add New&gt;<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-add-new-search-engine-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-42526\" src=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-add-new-search-engine-1.png\" alt=\"edge-add new search engine 1\" width=\"341\" height=\"116\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-add-new-search-engine-1.png 341w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-add-new-search-engine-1-150x51.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This will open a list of search engine pages you&#8217;ve visited along with options to manage them:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-manage-search-engines.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-42527\" src=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-manage-search-engines.png\" alt=\"edge-manage search engines\" width=\"360\" height=\"418\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-manage-search-engines.png 360w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-manage-search-engines-129x150.png 129w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-manage-search-engines-344x400.png 344w, https:\/\/davescomputertips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/edge-manage-search-engines-150x174.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see from the above screenshot, I&#8217;d already visited both Google Australia and Duck Duck Go and can now add either as my default search provider.<\/p><div id=\"daves-3209585379\" class=\"daves-single-post-in-content-3\" style=\"margin-bottom: 25px;\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-7205184075006101\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7205184075006101\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"2700504761\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\" data-full-width-responsive=\"false\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<h2>More Advanced Settings in Edge<\/h2>\n<p>Also under the Advanced Settings menu you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enable or disable Flash Player<\/li>\n<li>Opt to use Caret browsing<\/li>\n<li>Set Privacy options<\/li>\n<li>Manage Saved passwords &#8211; not recommended as there is no master password protection (at least, none that I could find)<\/li>\n<li>Opt to save form entries<\/li>\n<li>Choose to block pop-ups and Cookies<\/li>\n<li>Send Do Not Track requests<\/li>\n<li>Use Page prediction<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"gmw_\">Enable or disable SmartScreen Filter<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Turn Cortana integration On or Off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These then are just some of the main customizations available from within Edge&#8217;s Settings and Advanced Settings menus. It&#8217;s a fairly comprehensive selection overall and well worth going through.<\/p>\n<h2>Edge Extensions<\/h2>\n<p>Microsoft has promised that extensions will be available for the Edge browser but at this stage there is no word on when this might eventuate. I performed a cursory search for Edge extensions and found no such animals nor any information regarding a possible time frame.
