I got in touch with Tech Support, and they only sent me a new remote.<\/p>\n<p>When you move or shake this remote in the dark, the buttons will light up. Good or bad, up for debate. I was convinced that this was one of the reasons why the batteries drained so quickly.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t really need that feature, so I disabled it. Here\u2019s how&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>To Turn It Off<\/h2>\n<p>Press and hold the \u201c<strong>TiVo button<\/strong>\u201d and the \u201c<strong>Thumbs down<\/strong>\u201d button at once. Watch the \u201c<strong>activity light<\/strong>\u201d at the top of the remote, just above the TiVo button. It flashes \u201c<strong>red<\/strong>\u201d three times. I had to try it a few times to get it to work. But it works.<\/p>\n<h2>To Turn It On<\/h2>\n<p>Press and hold the \u201c<strong>TiVo button<\/strong>\u201d and the \u201c<strong>Thumbs up<\/strong>\u201d button at once. Watch the \u201c<strong>activity light<\/strong>\u201d at the top of the remote, just above the TiVo button. It flashes \u201c<strong>red<\/strong>\u201d three times.
