I queried this with my contact at Digiarty who explained that this giveaway version will rip all homemade DVDs plus <strong>all commercial DVDs produced before November 2024<\/strong>. This limitation is imposed to keep faith with customers who have forked out for the full version, which is fair enough in my book.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As far as the ripping speed is concerned<\/strong>, I tested the software by ripping an old commercial DVD &#8211; &#8220;The Cowboy Way&#8221; (circa 1994) &#8211; to MP4 format at default settings. The movie&#8217;s running time is a little over 1:42, and the job was completed in 25 minutes, which I didn&#8217;t think was too bad at all. The result was a 976MB MP4 file.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The quality<\/strong> was good, but not perfect by any means. The &#8220;Quality&#8221; slider is set to medium by default and, if I were ripping my DVD collection, I&#8217;d be moving that slider across closer to the High Quality mark.
