Can I legally copy just the OS (Win 7) from my current HD to another, new, same make and model HD, and how would I accomplish this? I do not want to clone or image my current drive. I have only upgrade discs from when I upgraded from Vista to Win7 Home Premium over 3 years ago.

Hi, and welcome to the DCT Forum! :)

Assuming the new hard drive will also be connected to the same machine and you have a genuine Windows 7 product key, you can perform a clean install.

Download the official Windows 7 ISO here: http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/ (make sure it is the exact same edition as the one you already have installed).

Burn the downloaded ISO image to DVD and use that to perform a clean install.

Cheers... Jim
