There is a link below where you can find all the programs I use on my computers. Information gives you the name, some description, and a link to the manufacturer (which should still be valid).
I am a believer in multi-layered protection because no one program can prevent you from getting infected, attacked, or render harm to your computer. All programs work together. There is no conflict which I am aware of, so far. Have a look and enjoy, Mindblower!

The best isolation that you can have is running a VM from inside your OS, whether Windows or Linux. Sure, you can share, from the guest to host or host to guest, but that can be switched, what happens in a VM stays in the VM. I believe running a VM for internet use is one of the wisest decision a PC user can make. I am right now using Linux Mint and running a W10 VM and although Linux Mint does not need to be isolated, it is their, if I chose. When I do boot into W10, it will hardly ever go online, except to update. I will always run Linux in a VM when running Windows. That way you can run your W8.1 as long as you wish.
