I have searched for a solution to this to the best of my ability in vain. I also see that I am not the only one that has received this error, but there were no solutions available.

When I click to open and use Windows Live Photo Gallery I get the popup that says, " Photo Gallery can't start. You may not have enough space on your hard disk or critical Files may be missing from Windows."

It has to be something to do with a corrupt or missing file or invalid registry entry as I have PLENTY space on my drive.

Everything else in Windows live works fine i.e. Messenger, Writer, Mail, and Call.

I have completely uninstalled Windows essentials from my computer and reinstalled it over again only to obtain the same error. I have no idea when this program stopped working because I haven't loaded pictures in quite some time but the last time I used it all was well and it worked fine.

Does anybody have a solution to this problem? On my research I saw that someone posted that a registry fix that they received had solved the problem but the registry fix was not posted.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, 32 bit.

This is driving me crazy and anybody that has found a solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!

Hey Saintsuperb (is that a reference to a football team??) - Microsoft suggest renaming a file which is stored in [b:er3wpniz]C:Users<your username>App DataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live Photo Gallery[/b:er3wpniz].....the file is titled [b:er3wpniz]Pictures.pd4[/b:er3wpniz]. This is the application's database which, apparently, can get corrupted. Rename that file to [b:er3wpniz]Old_Pictures.pd4[/b:er3wpniz], start Photo Gallery and it will rebuild the database.

That is what MS say, if that doesn't work here is what I would try: Run sfc /scannow. Click on [b:er3wpniz]Start[/b:er3wpniz] and in the 'Start Search' dialogue box type [b:er3wpniz]cmd[/b:er3wpniz]. Right click on [b:er3wpniz]cmd.exe[/b:er3wpniz] and select 'Run as administrator'. In the Command Prompt window type [b:er3wpniz]sfc /scannow[/b:er3wpniz] (note the space between 'c' in 'sfc' and the forward slash), then hit [b:er3wpniz]Enter[/b:er3wpniz]. SFC is short for System File Checker which will scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. You may need an installation disc but in many cases a copy of the files is stored on the main hard drive. If, after running the command, you get a message to insert the disc...do so, otherwise just let it run.

When sfc /scannow has finished just close the Command Prompt window and then restart the computer.

Let us know whether that helps or not,

cheers....JIM

I had the same problem and I fixed it like this: Download the jpg and jpeg fix from this page http://forums.techarena.in/tip.....020432.htm (scroll), unzip them on the desktop, run them and then reboot. It worked in my case and I tried everything else. Spread the word if it works. Many seem to have this problem.
